Why must I use DCM to dissolve 5'-cholesterol or 5'-tocopherol when acetonitrile works for 5'-cholesterol-TEG?

The difference in solubility between 5'-cholesterol (2170) and 5'-cholesterol-TEG (2189) arises from the more hydrophilic TEG linker. This is enough to make 5'-cholesterol-TEG (2189) soluble in acetonitrile. 5-Tocopherol (2163) is more similar in nature to 5'-cholesterol (2170) in that there is no hydrophilic group in the molecule therefore is not soluble in acetonitrile.
